Our vision is to make enchanting works of theatre and film inspired by the classic works of William Shakespeare. We are led by a talented creative team, creating with terrific casts of very talented actors, musicians, artists and dancers. We are honoured to have Richard Demarco CBE as our President, a luminary whose brilliant dedication & passion for the arts infuses all we do.

Suraiya HaddAD
Titania
Dr Suraiya Haddad studied for 13 years with the Royal Academy of Dance before attending Imperial where she captained the University Challenge team to a record breaking victory. With a love of storytelling she likes to moonlight as an actress and has always loved Shakespeare. She has played Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Lady Macbeth in the Scottish Play and Isabella in Measure for Measure. The team are delighted to be working with such a brilliantly talented individual for this, her first production with the Highland Shakespeare Company.

Eveliina Kuitunen
Peaseblossom
Dr Kuitunen is a very talented actress and graduate of St Andrews University where she was one of The Mermaid's leading lights. She went on to study for her Doctorate at Oxford University. Eveliina Kuitunen plays the Faerie Peaseblossom in The Masque. She is currently working on the web series 'SCP: Secure, Contain, Protect' with Glasgow based production company Big Jaw Gettys. She has starred in multiple award-winning Scottish short films as part of Tonnin Seteli. Her previous work includes theatre roles in Highland Shakespeare Company productions, a music video for Is This Really Me in her native Finland, video game voice-over, and modelling for Josh Woods.

Matilda Kay
The FaErie
Matilda, a recent graduate from the University of St Andrews, has showcased her remarkable talent in numerous productions. As a gifted flautist and singer, she infuses her performances with vivacity and charisma and although her schedule didn't allow her to feature in the show, she was a great help and inspiration for The Masque.

William leckie
The FaErie TUMBLER
William Leckie is a circus artist, actor, and playwright working at the intersection of circus and theater. He graduated from the University of Cambridge with First-Class Honours in Theology and Anthropology in 2022. His debut play, Bacon, sold out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2019 and received five-star critical acclaim. In 2020, his play No One Needs to Know won The Other Prize (Methuen Drama/Bloomsbury Publishing), and in 2023 he presented Crash and Burn in Edinburgh. Since 2023, he has been living in Argentina and Brazil, collaborating with circus collectives such as Circo de las Artes and Trivenchi (Buenos Aires), as well as Casa Manacá and the Escola Nacional de Circo (Rio de Janeiro).

Susanna Orr Holland
Ariel
Susanna’s unique style weaves a mix of influences from British and Irish folk song, classical, to Indian and Persian vocal techniques. Since her first album in 2013 she has continued to weave traditional song and storytelling together, creating rare performances of musical theatre, as well as in the community such as Psychiatric hospitals and community centres engaging audience participation and connection. She released another album Return of Swallows in 2025.

Nick Jenkins
MUSCIAL DIRECTOR & Cobweb
Nick Jenkins is a very well regarded and versatile fiddle player, violist, and mandolinist. He is well-known in the Scottish and Irish folk scenes and performs across multiple groups, including The Jink & Diddle, The John Langan Band, The Southern Tenant Folk Union, and Lorraine McCauley & The Borderlands. He has oft lifted his bow to weave music for Highland Shakespeare Company productions and adds a touch of brilliance to the score.

Sacha Marner
Puck
Sacha has just graduated from the University of St Andrews taking a Master of Arts Honours degree in Russian. He has been taking roles in Highland Shakespeare Company productions since he discovered his love of acting and which he took to Eton College, and St Andrews he took leading parts in many productions, including a star role at the Byre Theatre.
He also starred in a one man show called “SUMbody” at the Scottish Story Centre Festival on the Royal Mile and has graced many promenade productions during the Edinburgh Festivals.

Christopher Cannell
Prospero
Dr. Chris Cannell is a talented actor known for his captivating performances in productions at prestigious venues such as Cambo Estate and Fingask Castle, notably in The Highland Shakespeare Company's "A Midwinter Night's Dream." His extensive experience includes a variety of theatre productions during his time with the Mermaids Society at St Andrews University. An academic by training, Chris draws inspiration from a diverse range of texts and performances to enrich his roles. With a deep passion for the arts, poetry, and his native Edinburgh, he eagerly attends the Edinburgh International Festival each year, fully immersing himself in the vibrant cultural scene.

Siannie Moodie
music director & MOTH
A graduate from St Andrews University, Siannie is a very sought after clàrsach player, composer, workshop leader, and ceilidh caller originally from Ross-shire, now based in Edinburgh. Rooted in Scottish traditional, Gaelic, historical, and contemporary music, her work spans international performance, storytelling collaborations, folk session hosting, and music-making in care settings. She has supported Mike Heron of The Incredible String Band, played a moving Clarsach duet at the Royal Military Tattoo, performed internationally with Fèis Rois and her duo Komorebi, and regularly works composing for The Highland Shakespeare Company and with organisations including Live Music Now and Music in Hospitals & Care. Her score for The Masque will feature elements from her new album out on Bandcamp entitled Wax & Wane.

Sunny Moodie
OBERON
Sunny is a graduate from the University of St Andrews where he won the Best Actor Andy for his Withnail in the stage adaptation of the classic film and also represented Britain at the International Theatre Festival in Grenoble.
Since graduating, Sunny has performed in numerous critically acclaimed theatre productions across Scotland with The Highland Shakespeare Company. His work also spans a series of sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, taking on lead roles in masterpieces by Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard. Following a pivotal invitation to the Venice Biennale Cinema, Sunny expanded into filmmaking. Working internationally as an actor, director, and a Hollywood-trained cinematographer, he synthesises the visual poetry of film with the raw power of the stage, his first feature premiering at The Berlinale. At the heart of his craft, Sunny seeks to convey the pure wonder, music, and enchantment of Shakespeare’s poetic vision.

lizzie McDOUGALL
ART DIRECTor & MUSTARDSEED
A graduate of The Edinburgh College of Art and The University of The Highlands & Islands, Lizzie is an artist and storyteller who has worked doing art production with many luminaries in the theatre and the arts, including Lindsey Kemp, Ridiculousmous, Fingask Follies and many more. As an actress she has played with Malcolm Le Maistre's Mandarin Theatre Company.
She became a Storyteller at the invitation of Duncan Williamson and brings her talents to
create a beautiful and rich costuming for The Masque as well as taking the role of the Faerie Mustardseed.
